Crawling at 5 months?!?!

Kaylie is quite the little gal! Right now she is 4 1/2 months and she is up on all fours already! She moved her knee forward a couple of times yesterday. I couldn't believe my eyes! I wouldn't be surprised if she starts crawling in the next couple of months. She already rolls and scoots everywhere. I'll leave her on one side of the room on the floor and I come back a few minutes later and she has moved halfway across the room. She's my little tough girl! I love my little girl so much. She is so much fun! I love when she wakes up and I go in and get her and roll her over, the second she sees me she gets this big huge smile! My heart melts every time!

She's sitting in the highchair for the first time eating rice cereal...
Here they are taking their first bath together...
Jaden is such a good big brother to her. He is always so concerned about her when she is crying, and will go to her and pat her back. He likes to "help" me carry her out to the car in her car seat. In the morning when he wakes up he usually goes right for mine and Kaylie's bedroom to see if she is awake. I am sooo glad that he has learned to be "soft" with her and doesn't slap her or grab her anymore.
So today was the BYU game and we went up to my brother and sister-in-law's house to watch it and I dressed us all up in BYU shirts. Cougars won 41-17. yay!!!

You know you're a mom when....

I didn't feel like washing bottles right now so I thought I'd blog instead. :) Yea, call me a slacker, I don't care! Here are some things I made up and experience, definitely making me a "mom."

You know you're a mom when...

  1. one of the best birthday presents ever is having your carpets cleaned! (Yea, my best friend Nicole had my carpets done for me yesterday!)
  2. you catch yourself rocking back and forth, without even holding a kid
  3. you can drive with your knee, feed your baby a bottle in the backseat, and talk on your cell phone all at the same time. (I know, some people will judge me and hate me for this one.)
  4. you know all of the words to the children's tv show intro
  5. you go to bed thinking about what to blog about next
  6. your sister has to make you promise that you will spend your birthday money on yourself and not the kids.
  7. you are willing to kiss any body part on your child if they have an owee
  8. you spend the day doing laundry, cleaning, washing bottles, changing diapers, blogging, feeding kids, washing hands, rocking kids to sleep, vacuuming, going on walks, going to the park, doing errands, making dinner, running around with your head cut off until you go to bed at midnight and then wake up at 7 am and yet you still dont seem to lose any weight.
  9. you never get to go to the bathroom alone
  10. you have a cute outfit on that lasts about 5 minutes because of all the spit up and drool marks
  11. you forget what you came back in the house for or forget appointments

OuR tRiP tO ArIzOnA!!! 8/19 to 8/26/08

Our trip to Arizona was a very good one! We got to stay for a whole week at my mom's house. The kids and I drove there with my mom and Walt. It was a long 11 hour drive but the kids did really well! Thank goodness! Walt took us on a little detour through Zion's National Park, and here is a picture I took from the car...
It was beautiful!

It was nice being back at my mom's house and having someone to help take care of my kids. I got to take a couple naps on my own which was nice. It was also a lot of fun playing with both kids and my mom was able to take pictures of the three of us.

Jaden had a lot of fun running around the house, discovering new things to get into.
He also learned a new word "doggy" - but I think he thought Remi was a horse.

Kaylie enjoyed being held by Grandma a lot and playing on the floor with her toys. She is growing up so fast! She is already trying to crawl and sit up on her own!
I got to spend some time with my good friends Tara and Colby. Friday night Colby, his friend and I went to the club Barcelona and had a blast. Then Saturday night we all went to my favorite club, E4 to celebrate my birthday. It was so much fun just letting loose and shaking our booties! :)
And the next day Tara came over to try and teach Jaden and Kaylie how to say "Auntie Peach." It was pretty cute, Jaden said peach!
I can't believe I forgot to take pictures of the most important of my trip...my favorite place to eat, Wildflower! :) If any of you have never been there, you are missing out. Some people don't love it as much as me, but they are crazy! It's similar to Paradise Bakery, but I think it is much better. I got to enjoy their turkey sandwich and tomato bread salad only twice. Hopefully next time I can go there everyday. LOL :)
Anyway, our trip to Arizona was a blast! I am so grateful for my mom and Walt and all they do for our little family. I love you guys!

August 20th - My birthday

I am waaay behind on my blogging. The kids and I have been having fun in Arizona at my mom's house. I don't have much to say about my birthday but I do have some cute pictures I wanted to share. My mom and Walt took the kids and I to one of my favorite restaurants, Wildflower. I got my hair cut and colored by my mom's hair stylist, and that was fun. Then my mom took me shopping and I got some clothes. It was a great birthday! I can't believe I'm 24 and have two babies! =) I am soooo thankful that I am a mom and have the two children that I have. They make me so happy! I am looking forward to many more birthdays with my babies. :)

My life!

MY LIFE....(I got this off my sister's blog)
20 years ago, 1988: I just turned 4 years old! And my family and I moved into our new house in Sandy, Utah. I loooooved that house. I shared a room with my sister Megan and we had blue carpet. I remember my older sister Angie had pink carpet in her room, haha I guess it was cool to have colorful carpet back then.

15 years ago, 1993: I was 9 years old. I was going to Park Lane Elementary and loved going to church and being in primary. I had a huge crush on Jared Morgan. I'm pretty sure every girl in my grade did. My best friends were Cassie Nielsen and Jaron Bird.

1998: I was 15, my first year in highschool. I went to Jordan High, go Beetdiggers! I met my first love Chris Wardle, the first day of school in algebra class. It was love at first sight. :) My sophomore year was a great year! Ashley Rose, Christina Maurer, Jen Olsen, Melissa Eddy, Meagan Campbell, Emily Reid and I all became really close friends. Christina turned 16 first, so it was fun to have her drive us around in her cute red Honda CRV!

5 years ago, 2003: I was 19 living in Draper, Utah with my mom. I was dating Kevin Harkness and we got engaged. Obviously that didn't work out or else I'd be married for 4 years now! crazy!!!

2007: My son Jaden was born June 2nd. Wow time flies! And then I found out I was pregnant with Kaylie only a couple months later. I moved back to Utah from Arizona to be closer to the rest of my family and my friends, and so I could be happy and raise my babies being a happy mom.

6 months ago, February 2008: I was 7 months pregnant with Kaylie and wanting to shoot myself in the face, hehe...not seriously, that is my saying if you know me, I say "shoot me in the face" a lot. Jaden 8 months old and so much fun. He got rrrreally heavy so I had to carry him around while I was 8 months pregnant and wanting to die. Thankfully Nicole helped me through my pregnancy with Kaylie.

Today, August 21st: Happy Birthday to my sister Angie! Today I have been hanging out in Arizona at my mom's house with my kids. It's nice to be on another vacation! My mom's car is in the shop today so I don't have a car to get around so I've been keeping myself busy inside. I have cleaned a lot and took a nap with the kids and caught up on One Tree Hill season 2. :) Next, I am making dinner for everyone.

Tomorrow, August 22nd: The kids and I are going to meet my friend Camille for lunch. Then later tomorrow night I'm going out on the town with Tara and the rest of the girls. It will be good times had by all!!! :)

Answer these questions for yourself. You'll be surprised what memories you come up with!

"California here we come, right back where we started from...California!!!"

I am back from my weekend in the OC! I went and stayed with my good friend Desiree, she lives in the OC. My mom and step dad stayed home with my babies and I got to go have a relaxing fun weekend. It was a lot of fun!
Friday morning we woke up and headed for Long Beach to relax on the beach. Here I am...
I have never had the privilege to just lay on the beach and soak in the sun, or even swim in the ocean. So I was pretty excited! Notice anything weird about this picture? There isn't anyone in the water. Funny story...Des and I felt like playing in the water, so we got in up to our hips and played in it for about 10 minutes. As we were laying out on our towels after we heard a lifeguard tell someone else not to go in the water because it is contaminated! I of course asked the lifeguard if we were going to die. He told us that it was contaminated from sewage pipe breaking a few days ago!!! He told us to rinse off right away. I couldn't believe it! My first real experience in the ocean, I swim in shi*!!! Thank goodness I had my hand sanitizer with me, I rubbed it all over my legs and then we rinsed off in the shower at the beach and then headed home for a real shower.
Later that night we met up with some of Desiree's friends and her boyfriend for Happy Hour at a place called Mai Tai's. It was a lot of fun to just sit and relax and chat with everyone and enjoy the live entertainment.
After that Desiree, Dan (her boyfriend) and I went to an Italian restaurant because I of course wanted pizza. The food was great but our waiter was a little odd and the decorations in the restaurant were pretty out there. Our waiter came up and introduced himself and right off the bat said he needed a drink that it had been a long day and went on and on about his day. It was pretty funny. After we ate, Des had to mention that my birthday was coming up. He actually checked my driver's license to see if we were being serious, that's how crazy he was. I kept insisting that he not sing happy birthday or draw attention to me and he said he wouldn't. The next thing I know is he asks my name and I say Lauren, and I thought he walked away but he had walked behind me, pulling my chair, so as I'm going backwards he is yelling out that its my birthday. It was pretty funny and a little embarrassing.
Saturday we felt like going to the beach and getting some sun again, but don't worry we went to a non-contaminated beach. We went to Huntington Beach, and wow it was beautiful! There were tons of people there, the water was beautiful, the waves were awesome, the weather was perfect, it was great! There was even a surf competition going on that we got to see a little bit of. Des and I played in the water for awhile and ran away from the big waves, it was very fun. Then we walked out on the pier and ate lunch at a place called Ruby's Diner.

That night we got all ready and headed to a place called Sutra Lounge, it's one of the nicest clubs in the OC. Des took me there a couple years ago when I first got to visit her there. It was a lot of fun to be back there. We had fun shaking our booties and talking to all the good looking men that were there. Des took a lot more pictures of our night at Sutra, so I'll have to post more when she sends them to me. It was an awesome vacation and I am so glad that I was able to go. I'm sooo grateful to my mom and step dad for taking care of my babies. I missed my babies sooo much. I couldn't wait to see them! It was so cute how both of them were so excited to see me. Jaden started kicking his legs in the carseat and giggling and Kaylie just stared at me and kept smiling. It was so cute. Here they are on our way home...

A Day at the Petting Zoo!

This last Friday Jaden, Kaylie, Brindley, Nicole and I went to Thanksgiving Pointe and went to the petting zoo. Jaden enjoyed looking at all the different animals, but he mostly enjoyed pushing his little sister around in the stroller.
Jaden rode a pony for the first time and LOVED it! The second I put him on it a big smile crossed his face.
The kids made a new friend...
Overall it was a very fun time, but it was soooooo incredibly hot, Nicole and I didn't know if we were gonna make it!

Peekaboo Photography photos

The first week of June, when Kaylie was just 2 months old, she and I had our pictures taken by Peekaboo Photography. Joy (my boss) had them taken for her website and her business cards. She didn't have any newborns to take pictures of and my baby was the lucky one! And a bonus for Joy was that Kaylie was her "little chocolate baby" as she calls her. :)

Here are the pictures, I am sooo pleased with them!
